Fantasy Fest - Other Views

Citizen's Voice of the Day

"My husband and I are Monroe County residents in our early 60s and we had a wonderful time at Fantasy Fest. The traditional parties and parades were great (as usual), and all the people we met that week were fun-loving and friendly. We are tired of hearing the moral minority complain about one of our island's super events. If you don't like it, don't move here ? or simply stay out of Old Town during Fantasy Fest ? but don't poop on the party so many of us enjoy."

"For your information, most of Key West does not leave for Fantasy Fest. Some locals actually enjoy it. And the others, like me, rely on the income that Fantasy Fest brings as I am in the service/hospitality industry. Without Fantasy Fest there would be no Christmas money for my family after the slow slow summer season. This town can handle a few events per year so that its service industry can survive. If you dislike it so much, that is a great time for you and your family to vacation as it is off-season most places and you can get some great deals."

The Citizens' Voice carried these two responses to the Letter to the Editor I linked to in my posting on Wednesday.

We've seen some of these senior revelers. It isn't a pretty sight.
