Key West has more than its share of legends, near-legends, and those who are legends in their own minds.

Ed Kidd, AKA, "Cowboy Timmy," "Hobo Cop," "Pepe the Pickle Sniffer" and "Amish Guy" was a local celebrity by virtue of his unique outfits, his bicycle loaded with his worldly possessions, and by virtue of his frequent appearances on the radio and in person with Bill Hoebee, DJ for WAIL FM, and MC for lots of on-location events in the town.

I didn't know him, but I knew of him. He marched to the sound of a different drummer. I'd put put him in the near-legend class.

Now he's dead, ignominiously, his body found lying along a road on Stock Island.
