Politics -- or worse -- in the County

There's been a lot of news in the Key West Citizen and in the Keynoter in the past couple of days about the findings of a Grand Jury convened to investigate the awarding and oversight of a contract for sewers on Stock Island awarded by the County Commission to a private firm, Key West Resort Utilities.

It's a complicated story. The Citizen's coverage is extensive and provides a lot of the background. This editorial, again from the Citizen, is a pretty damning indictment of the three commissioners who appear to be behind the move to "privatize" sewer construction and operation, taking such work away from the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, which has been the primary provider of such services until now.

Deep Throat said "follow the money" in the Watergate story. It seems good advice in this case.
