Tropical Storm Chris

We got through June and July without any tropical disturbances coming anywhere near the Keys. Now it's August 1, and we have Tropical Storm Chris on the radar. Not literally on the radar, but over the horizon, out by the Leeward Islands, past Puerto Rico, more than a thousand miles away. The five day storm track forecast shows the storm heading pretty much straight for south Florida and the middle to upper Keys. Such a track five days out has a huge margin for error, but it should be in our area by next Sunday if it remains within the "cone of error". Chris is just a tropical storm at this point with winds of about 40 miles per hour.

We'll continue to monitor and begin reporting on the Key West repsonse when appropriate.
