I got this picture from a member of the Key West Neighborhood Association via their Yahoo! Group. It came with this message:
Trash from the streets makes it's way to the stormwater piping and into the gulf or ocean.
Under Duval Street - A 42-inch stormwater pipe which outfalls to the Gulf of Mexico.
Storm water pollution is a serious problem presenting a real threat to Florida's waterways, communities and public health and safety. For this reason, the City of Key West has made reducing storm water pollution a top priority.
But we can't do it alone. We are all responsible for the problem, and we must all work together to fix it.
Remember to place trash in a container!
Good idea!
