There are two Key Wests. They occupy the same island but are worlds apart. The sham Key West is a show for tourists; the Real Key West belongs to those of us who live here. Come with us now ... to the Real Key West.

That's a great improvement over the existing situation, but it worries me that the park people are continuing to quote that they'll still be taking out "unsafe or diseased" trees. On the surface that sounds reasonable, but everybody knows it's easy to get a quack "tree surgeon" to declare a good as tree "unsafe" (to get permission to remove it). I'm worried that the park people may still do that with some good trees in there that they had planned to remove prior to this "reprieve".
Perhaps the Save Our Pines people should press the Park people to give them a list of any trees that they currently plan to remove for "safety" reasons and use whatever money they have left to do an independent check-up of those trees....
Oversight is the best way to keep angry bureaucrats honest.
